My tiny baby is getting so big!

Carson had his (almost) 4 month appointment today. He weighs in at a tiny little 13lbs 5oz (about the 20th %ile) and is 25 1/2 inches talls (80th %ile) he is still tall and skinny just like daddy. His doctor said that he is very developmentally advanced for his age and that probably has a lot to do with how skinny he is, he is just a very active little boy. He is sitting as well as at least a 5 month old, almost a 6 month old so that is super great! He is also very social now and LOVES to flirt with all the girls at school when he goes with me.

We had planned on not starting solid foods with Carson until 6 months but he has been showing all the signs of readiness lately and some babies with severe reflux like Carson's are helped by starting a little cereal. So we talked about it with his pediatrician today and decided to go ahead and start a little baby oatmeal (rice cereal unfortunately all has soy which he can't have) but don't plan on starting veggies for another month. He liked it a lot actually, which surprised me. He had a hard time keeping it in his mouth and swallowing without it coming out of his mouth so more of it ended up on him and in his little tummy but he kept lunging for the spoon for more. I'm really excited to try it again tomorrow and I can't wait until he can actually keep it in his mouth.

I know, I know, I'm a slacker...

laughing at Daddy
Eating his feet

My soda can dress

Where to start? I haven't posted a blog in over a month so I've got quite a bit to cram in here..

It has been a loooooooong month
I posted before about our "new" baby due to reflux medicine, yea that lasted about a minute (or 2 days, but who's counting?) We switched from zantac to prilosec for reflux and when that didn't work I had to cut out all things dairy and soy to see if Carson was having an allergic reaction. Well, it seems to be a combination of reflux and a dairy sensitivity and possible soy sensitivity. Carson is now on both zantac and prevacid as well as Mommy having a no dairy/no soy diet and he seems to be like a normal little baby now! He still doesn't sleep great at night, but honestly, I'll take the 2 or 3 hours over none at all and today he took an almost 3 hour nap! He has never ever napped that long! Things have just finally gotten good over the last almost a week I guess, but the month (or rather 3 months) leading up to this point have been the longest, most sleep deprived 3 months of my life! Now that I am starting to get used to it, rice milk and spelt bread aren't all that bad, but I will have to say that I would kill for yogurt right now, I never realized how much I loved yogurt (or how EVERYTHING has dairy or soy in it, geesh!)

New things this month
Carson does so much new stuff now! He rolled over for the first time, that was super exciting, he went from back to tummy and once on his tummy held his head up and was happy, which is odd since he HATES tummy time with a passion, then he decided he was done and rolled back to his back to play with his toys. He also not only found his feet, but now has figured out that he can get them in his mouth, it is pretty entertaining. He laughs now too! That part is pretty new, just for the last few days and only happens a little bit, but of course he laughed his way all the way through a giant blowout diaper change.

School
School has been crazy this term. Thankfully there are only 3 weeks left in the term. I love draping, but sometimes it just totally stresses me out, I have 3 weeks to design and perfect 2 garments...eep! Hopefully it wont be too tough.

Thats all I can think of for the moment, but I'll try to post more than just once a month from now on....

Some days I'm pretty sure that I'm crazy.

I have 13 credits this term and it is way tough. I am determined not to let having a baby stop me or even slow me down from graduating, but some days I'm pretty sure that I have no idea what I was thinking. On the bright side I love draping! Anyway...here are some new pictures.

My "new" baby

For 2 months we had a non-sleeping, constantly screaming, sad, uncomfortable child 90% of the time with occasional happy times in between. On Tuesday he started taking medicine for reflux and now that the meds have kicked in he is like a whole new baby. He is happy all the time, rarely cries and when he does its because he actually needs something (food, diaper change...) not just because he is uncomfortable, and he actually sleeps now. He slept through the night last night, it was great! (ok it was a little nerve racking because he has never done that so I had to keep checking to make sure he was breathing, but I'm sure it will be great the next time) I am so happy he isn't just uncomfortable all the time, and I'm so glad to get some sleep!

Carson is almost 2 months old!

How did that happen?

We had Carson's 2 month appointment today. He got his first set of vaccines and it was very traumatic for both of us. He cried, I cried, it pretty much sucked. He however was over it by a little while later, I'm still bummed out about it, my poor little baby just screamed and screamed. He is now 11 lbs 6 oz, right on the 50%ile for weight and 23 1/4 inches which is at the 75%ile for height. He is growing great! He wore his first 3-6 month outfit today. Everything that is 0-3 months is too small if it has feet in it and most of them are getting too short but everything 3-6 months is still basically huge. My little guy is getting so big!

We got Carson's pictures taken last week and they turned out GREAT! We got the proofs online today and I can't wait to get our actual prints and start working on his scrapbook, now if only I can find the time to do it.

Anyway, time for bed...and have a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas!

We came up to Tigard this week to spend Christmas with our families and got snowed in. We did manage to get to the mall to take pictures with Santa for Carson's first Christmas though. He had just woken up from a nap so he was a little groggy when he met Santa, but he thought that Santa's soft fuzzy outfit was a comfy place to sit and he was quite content. We had lots of fun with my parents and Brian and Kellie on Christmas Eve and with Bryan's parents and brother on Christmas day.

On Christmas Eve I put and outfit on Carson that said "All Mommy wants for Christmas is a Silent Night" and my lovey little baby gave me the best gift ever, 6 straight hours of sleep, which was a record all in itself, then he woke up for only 15 minutes to eat then back down for a little over an hour, it was pretty much the best thing ever.

Finals are finally over!!

Bryan and I are finally finished with fall term and I am so thankful to be done and have a few weeks to just enjoy Carson without worrying about classes. Carson is getting so big already, he is up to 10 lbs 7 ounces at 6 weeks old. He has started smiling a couple of weeks ago and now he smiles lots and lots, I love it! Carson also loves his bath now, he just hates getting out. It is snowing here right now and I hope it sticks around until tomorrow so we can get Carson all bundled up and take some pictures of his first time seeing snow, even if he won't know what snow is.
